LOCAL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #9715 RECEIVES TOP AWARD

Our Father John E. Doyle Council of the Knights of Columbus Council #9715 has received the distinction of Star Council, the international organization’s top award for local councils.

The Star Council Award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership, sponsorship of faith formation programs and service-oriented activities.

The Council was able to protect the unborn, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, shelter the homeless and visit the sick. The Council provided support to so many different organizations during the fraternal year, and here are just some of the many:  The Brother House in Norristown, PA, St. Helena Foodbank, Face-to-Face in Germantown, financial support of seminarians and deacon studies, Corpus Christi School, Sacred Heart Parish in South Philadelphia, A Baby’s Breath in Collegeville, Our Sister Parish—Visitation BVM in Kensington—with Coats for Kids, School Supplies (Ladies Auxiliary), Easter Basket Project, and Giving Tree (Ladies Auxiliary) Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Wheelchair purchase program, Gianna Center and Guiding Star Ministries.

The Knights were involved in plenty of activities that we coordinated throughout the year: the Rose and Rosary Program for the newly baptized, DeKalb Pike roadside clean-up, decorating the church for Christmas and Easter, local free-throw contest, organizing packages for troops, and The March for Life Alternative at Corpus Christ and the outreach to the sick and shut-ins.

None of this could have been accomplished without the tremendous support of our Pastors, our Brother Knights and the Ladies Auxiliary, the parishioners of Corpus Christi and St. Rose of Lima Parishes and the administrative and support staffs at both Parishes.
